Ex-speaker Tammineni, Family Under Probe in Land Fraud Case
Eight persons have been arrested in this connection as they used forged documents that include fake death certificates and fabricated legal heir records

Visakhapatnam: The police in Srikakulam is probing the suspected role of former Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, his wife Vani and son Thammineni Venkata Sriramulu Chiranjeevi Nag alias Nani in the recently unearthed `3 crore land fraud case.
Eight persons have been arrested in this connection as they used forged documents that include fake death certificates and fabricated legal heir records.
They were Adabala Rajani, Telugu Satish Kumar, Salipilli Lakshmana Rao, Mudadla Upendra Kumar, Jegurupati Upendra Rao, Mamidi Gopalakrishna, Sambana Sambasiva Rao and Kuna Peddiraju.
Giving details, Srikakulam SP Maheswara Reddy said the case related to plots 84, 85 and 86 in Survey 35/13 at Chapuram gram panchayat under Balaga limits in Amadalavalasa mandal. The property was legally purchased by complainant Katta Jayshankar's father Kanaka Lingeswara Rao between 1988 and 1992.
Since the family resided in Hyderabad due to Jayshankar’s employment, the land remained vacant for several years.
The accused persons allegedly exploited this scenario to their advantage.
“The fraudsters created a death certificate of Lingesawra Rao and later forged a family certificate showing Adabala (Andavarapu) Rajini as the sole heir.”
Based on these false documents, they prepared bogus registration papers and registered the land in the name of Thammineni Venkata Sriramulu Chiranjeevi Nag alias Nani, son of former Speaker Thammineni Seetharam, the police report stated.
As the investigation began, Nag obtained a high court order directing the police not to interfere in civil matters. He produced the order on July 15, hours after the case was registered in Srikakulam rural police station.
The police ignored the order stating that they were probing the criminal part of the case.
Under the supervision of senior officers, the Rural Police conducted a detailed investigation and identified 13 persons involved in the conspiracy.
“We will probe the role of Thammineni Seetharam, his son Nag and wife Thammineni Vani. If found that they colluded with the gang, action will be taken as per the law, '' the SP said.
Later, the SP said Boddepalli Aruna, the previous sub‑registrar of Amadalavalasa will also be probed for registering the land without proper verification. He noted that the four witness signatures for land registration were taken from faculty members of Thammineni Seetharam owned private college.
Soon after the arrest, the police also seized fake rubber stamps and mobile phones used in the conspiracy. Operations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
