A court sent former MP Nandigam Suresh to judicial remand up to June 2 at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Monday.

Vijayawada:A court sent former MP Nandigam Suresh to judicial remand up to June 2 at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Monday.
The police arrested the former MP on Sunday in a case of attack on a TDP activist, Raju, at Uddandarayunipalem in Thullur mandal in Guntur district, and after conducting medical tests at a government hospital, he was produced before the court, which in turn imposed judicial remand on him. Accordingly, he was shifted to the district jail in Guntur.
Farooq flags off 906 pilgrims for Haj in Hyderabad
Vijayawada:Minority welfare N. Md Farooq has said that 1,630 Muslims will embark on Haj pilgrimage from AP in 2025.
The minister flagged 906 pilgrims to embark on the pilgrimage from the embarkation centre in Hyderabad on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that 1,630 pilgrims from AP would take up Haj pilgrimage in 2025, and of them, 1,170 would take up the pilgrimage from the embarkation centre in Hyderabad, while 451 from Bengaluru and nine from other embarkation centres.
The minister said that on May 19 and 20, as many as 818 pilgrims would be going to Haj on three flights from Hyderabad, while 88 pilgrims would do so on May 27.
The minister said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu issued directions to make all necessary arrangements for the Haj pilgrims to avoid any inconvenience to them.
CS calls for 2 cr people to take part in Int’l Yoga Day on June 21
Vijayawada:Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand called for two crore people to take part in the 11th International Yoga Day to be observed on June 21 in the state.
The CS held a video conference with the secretaries and the district collectors from the Secretariat here on Monday to review the preparations being made for the event. He said that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be attending the event to be held at Rama Krishna beach in Visakhapatnam, he wanted five lakh people to take part in the programme directly and perform yoga asanas. He asked the district collectors to bring about more awareness of the programme to ensure a greater number of people attend the event in the villages and districts on International Yoga Day.
