Ex-Minister Seeks SC-Monitored CBI Probe Into Ayodhya Funds

Senior Congress leader alleges misuse of donations, demands transparent investigation

Nellore: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Chinta Mohan on Monday demanded a CBI inquiry under the supervision of the Supreme Court into the alleged misuse of funds collected for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing a press conference, Chinta Mohan said thousands of crores had been collected in the name of Lord Ram through nationwide donation drives and alleged that the utilisation of those funds should be thoroughly investigated. He questioned why a CBI probe had been ordered into issues relating to TTD while similar scrutiny had not been extended to the Ayodhya Ram temple funds.

He also criticised what he termed "unequal treatment" in disproportionate assets cases involving former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Appealing to Dalit Christians to return to the Congress fold, he said the party would work towards a constitutional amendment to grant them Scheduled Caste status. He also urged the district collector to curb industrial pollution in Muthukur and promote large-scale plantation to safeguard public health.
