ESI Hospital in Nellore Set to Take Off, MP Urges Centre to Call Tenders
The hospital, along with staff quarters, is to be built within the district headquarters.

Tirupati: The proposal to set up a 100-bed Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospital in Nellore district has reached an advanced stage, with all required approvals and land allocation completed. MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, who has been pursuing the matter with the Union Government for the past year, met Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi on Wednesday and urged him to initiate the tendering process for construction.
The hospital, along with staff quarters, is to be built within the district headquarters. The MP informed the Minister that inspections by relevant authorities had been completed and the identified land was ready for development. In addition to the hospital site, one acre has been allocated specifically for constructing staff quarters.
Vemireddy stressed that the facility would be a major relief for thousands of unorganised sector workers who currently lack access to dedicated medical infrastructure. He requested the Minister to instruct officials to begin the tender process immediately to ensure early commencement of construction. In response, Minister Mandaviya assured that the matter would be taken up positively and necessary action would follow.
In a separate meeting, the Nellore MP also met Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and submitted representations regarding two issues concerning Kendriya Vidyalayas. He requested inclusion of Kendriya Vidyalayas across Andhra Pradesh under the PM POSHAN (mid-day meal) scheme, pointing out that many institutions, including the one in Kothur (Nellore Rural), are currently not covered.
The MP also sought the sanctioning of a National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit for the Kothur school, which has around 710 students. He noted that an NCC unit would promote discipline, leadership, and patriotism among students, while also aiding those interested in joining the armed forces. He further requested that vacant posts in the school be filled promptly to maintain educational standards. The Union Education Minister assured him that both requests would be duly considered.
