Ernakulam Express Fire: ₹5.80 Lakh Cash, Gold Found in Deceased Passenger’s Bag

Visakhapatnam: A fatal fire broke out on the Ernakulam Express near Elamanchili in Anakapalli district, Visakhapatnam, gutting two coaches. The incident resulted in the death of 70-year-old Chandrasekhar Sunder, a resident of Vijayawada, who was trapped inside a burning coach.

Following the tragic event, railway police, examining the scene, recovered a significant amount of cash and gold from the deceased passenger's bag. In the presence of Chandrasekhar’s family, officials confirmed the contents: ₹5.80 lakh in cash and various gold ornaments. Several bundles of currency notes were found partially burnt.

An investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the blaze and to evaluate any potential safety lapses.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu hailed the AP police.
