Enhanced Medical Services at SVIMS: TTD Chairman

Focus is now on developing oncology and pediatric care, with a new 391-bed cancer block and five OTs under construction

Nellore: The Tirumala Tirupati Dvastanams (TTD) chairman, B.R. Naidu, has announced that enhanced medical services will soon be provided at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (Svims) super speciality hospital in Tirupati.

Speaking to the media after attending the Svims governing council meeting, the TTD chairman said an expert committee headed by former TTD executive officer I.V. Subba Rao had submitted a comprehensive report covering infrastructure, medical personnel, equipment, engineering works and funding.

The TTD Board will review the report and make amendments as per the state government’s guidance.

TTD executive officer J. Syamala Rao has highlighted that the TTD extends annual support of Rs.60 crore to Svims, along with other aid exceeding Rs.100 crore through various trusts. Svims serves primarily poor patients, conducting 18,000 surgeries, treating 4.5 lakh outpatients and 47,000 in-patients annually.

Focus is now on developing oncology and pediatric care, with a new 391-bed cancer block and five OTs under construction. Naidu has also visited patients and inspected facilities firsthand.

Alongside TTD officials and committee members, key stakeholders including Special CS (health) M.T. Krishnababu and TTD Board member Suchitra Ella joined the session virtually.
