Vijayawada: Out of the five urban local bodies (ULBs) where elections were scheduled to be held on Tuesday, voting took place in only two ULBs. Elections in the remaining three ULBs were postponed due to insufficient quorum and law-and-order issues in the state.
According to State Election Commission authorities, elections were held in the Tirupati Municipal Corporation to elect a deputy mayor and a member for Ward No. 35. Telugu Desam candidate R.C. Munikrishna was declared elected amidst a tense situation.
Similarly, elections were conducted at Nandigama Municipality in NTR district to elect a chairperson, and Mandava Krishna Kumari was declared elected. However, the election for the chairperson at Palakonda Nagar Panchayat in Parvathipuram Manyam district was postponed due to insufficient quorum.
