Elderly Couple Found Murdered In Visakhapatnam

The couple had returned from Hyderabad just two days prior, where they had attended a programme. They had been residing in their Rajiv Nagar home for the past 30 years.

Visakhapatnam: An elderly couple was found murdered in their home in Rajiv Nagar in Visakhapatnam city on Friday evening, according to Duvvada police.

Gampala Yogindrababu, 66, a retired Naval Dockyard employee, and his wife Lakshmi, 52, a teacher at the local Gloria School, were discovered dead in separate rooms of their house in Ward 86 of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) area.

The bodies were found when Yogindrababu’s nephew visited their residence and found it locked. After calling their phones and hearing them ring inside the house, he grew suspicious, managed to open a window and door, and discovered that they had been murdered.

Authorities were immediately alerted, and police officials, including ACP T. Trinath and Duvvada CI Malleswara Rao, arrived at the scene. Upon entering, they found Yogindrababu’s body in the hall and Lakshmi’s in another room, both surrounded by blood.

According to police, the murders likely occurred around 24 hours earlier, possibly on Thursday night. A case has been registered, and police are exploring various motives, including robbery.

The couple have two children, Sujith and Shilpa, both currently living in America.
