ED Summons Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy For Questioning On Oct. 14

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned YSRC MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy for questioning on October 14 in its money-laundering probe linked to the Vivekananda Reddy murder case.

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Kadapa MP, YS Avinash Reddy of the YSRC, to appear before it on October 14 vis-a-vis the alleged money-laundering probe and the financial trail linked to the 2019 murder of former MP, YS Vivekananda Reddy.

The ED reportedly stepped up its investigation into the “financial transactions” connected with the murder of the former MP at his residence in Pulivendula in Kadapa district. The investigations into the case by central agencies -- first by CBI and later ED -- is dragging for seven years.

An alleged `40-crore deal is linked to the murder case. ED claims it is currently scrutinising the bank transactions and suspected fund movements associated with the accused.

In the last two years, ED has questioned some of the key accused including Yerra Gangi Reddy, Y Sunil Yadav and D Umashankar Reddy. It also questioned Shaik Dastagiri, an accused-turned-approver.

It was in August 2025 that, based on a CBI investigation report, the ED registered an enforcement case information report (ECIR) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). On August 21, the agency conducted searches at seven locations in Hyderabad and Kadapa. Several documents and digital devices were seized along with `24 lakh in unaccounted cash and two locker keys from premises of Avinash Reddy.

Vivekananda Reddy was murdered at his residence in Pulivendula in March 2019. The CBI took over the investigation, and the case has since been passing through prolonged legal proceedings, as is happening with the investigations into other cases too. Powerful politicians are involved in this case.

Avinash Reddy is among the accused in the murder case. The latest ED summons came ahead of his scheduled appearance to face questioning on October 14 on the financial aspects of the case.
