SIR Electoral Roll Revision Final Publication On Nov 30: AP SEC

Amaravati: The State Election Commission (SEC) has revised the schedule for the SIR of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, fixing November 30 as the date for final publication of the voters' list. In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh, the Commission said the revised schedule followed a request from the state election machinery.

As per the revised schedule, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will be conducted from July 31 to November 20.

The Commission directed officials concerned to communicate the revised schedule to all stakeholders and give it wide publicity.

Political parties must also be informed about the modified schedule in writing, said the letter. The revision pertains to the SIR of electoral rolls with July 1, as the qualifying date, it added.

The AP SEC has also taken a key decision to make the nomination papers and affidavits of candidates contesting local body elections, parishad and sarpanch elections available on its website. The decision follows a PIL filed in the High Court by Valaparla Sivakarthik of Nuzvid, seeking directions to make candidates’ nomination papers and affidavits available online. In response, the SEC informed the High Court that it would upload the candidates’ affidavits on its website.
