Dy CM Orders PCB Probe into Alleged Green Norm Violations at Panchadarla Hill

According to an official statement, preliminary findings submitted by the district collector and the APPCB indicated ‘prima facie’ evidence of violations by the mining company.

Vijayawada:Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has directed the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) to conduct an inquiry into alleged environmental violations in gravel excavation on revenue land at Panchadarla Hill in Rambilli mandal of Anakapalli district and submit a report.

According to an official statement, preliminary findings submitted by the district collector and the APPCB indicated ‘prima facie’ evidence of violations by the mining company. The Deputy Chief Minister directed the authorities to impose penalties, in accordance with the rules, for carrying out gravel and soil excavation allegedly in violation of environmental norms.

He also instructed that scientists from the National Institute of Hydrology study the reported change in the colour of natural springs in the area and submit a report with recommendations to protect the natural flow of water.
