Durga Temple Officials Plan Smooth Devotee Access to Indrakeeladri
Temple EO V.K. Seena Naik reviews congestion issues and proposes reforms to ease last-mile travel for pilgrims

Authorities at Vijayawada’s Durga temple are coordinating with multiple departments to resolve access issues for devotees visiting the Indrakeeladri shrine.
Durga Temple executive officer V.K. Seena Naik stated that all government departments are coordinating efforts to ensure smooth and hassle-free access for devotees to reach the Indrakeeladri shrine. He made these remarks during a review meeting held at the temple office on Saturday. The meeting was attended by officers from the NTR District Police Commissionerate, temple staff, and members of the Vedic Committee.
EO Seena Naik acknowledged that devotees have been facing difficulties in reaching the Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri for darshan. “Though people can travel from cities like Hyderabad to Vijayawada in just a few hours, they face serious challenges covering the last stretch from Kummaripalem Centre to the temple,” he observed.
During the meeting, officials discussed possible alternative routes and proposed changes to the toll gate layout to ease congestion. The EO also informed police officials about several measures underway to enhance the pilgrim experience, including the development of a holding area near the municipal office and the establishment of information centres at Kanakadurga Nagar and Durga Ghat.
He proposed new facilities for devotees at the foot of the hill as part of decentralising temple administration and emphasised steps to enhance the spiritual and cultural environment at the base of Indrakeeladri.
Key participants included Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Ramakrishna, Vijayawada West Zone ACP K. Durga Rao, temple executive engineers K.V.S. Koteswara Rao and Rambabu, and Assistant Commissioner Ranga Rao.
