Visakhapatnam:In a grim reminder of lack of facilities in tribal regions, a nine-month pregnant woman of Chintalapalem village in Pedakota panchayat of Anantagiri mandal in Alluri Seetharama Raju district had to endure a harrowing journey on Wednesday, including walking over 7 km, before reaching a hospital for delivery.

Gemmela Janakamma went into labour on Wednesday. With no proper roads or transport facilities, her family carried her through a dense forest terrain in a doli. She then had to walk 7 km to reach the Pinakota Area Hospital. Her ordeal highlights the persistent neglect of basic infrastructure in remote villages.

Locals urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan to take note of the incident.
