Don't Send Accused In Social Media Cases To Remand Without Strong Reason: HC

The Andhra Pradesh High Court issued orders to the judges not to remand the accused in cases relating to 'indecent' social media posts. The orders also issued directions about the cases, arrests and remands in connection with the objectionable social media posts.
The High Court registrar issued a circular to all the judges in the state it was not fair to send the accused in these cases to remand mechanically. The court insisted that all the magistrates should definitely follow the orders. The court made it clear that any violation would not be tolerated. In case, anybody violates the orders, they will have to face contempt of court case. In addition, departmental action would be taken against those violating the orders.
The HC Registrar made it clear that all the judges dealing with the cases relating to social media posts, should mandatorily follow the directions of the Supreme Court.
