Doctor's Absence Alleged In Woman's Death

Despite the initial medical procedures, Sulochana's condition deteriorated and she died before a doctor could attend to her.

A 48-year-old woman allegedly died after a doctor was unavailable at the Government Community Health Centre in Kamalapuram of Kadapa district late on Friday night.

The deceased, identified as Sulochana, was brought to the 50-bed hospital in a critical condition shortly after midnight. According to sources, paramedical and nursing staff conducted an ECG and initiated preliminary treatment. However, no doctor was present at the facility at the time.

Despite the initial medical procedures, Sulochana's condition deteriorated and she died before a doctor could attend to her.

Family members alleged that when they questioned the staff about the doctor's absence, they were told that the doctor had gone out for dinner. They further claimed that the doctor reached the hospital only after Sulochana's death.

The incident has raised concerns over the availability of doctors and emergency medical services at the hospital. As per norms, a team of three doctors is expected to be available round the clock at a 50-bed Community Health Centre.

No official response was immediately available from the health department.

Krishna police recover 400 lost phones

Krishna district police have recovered and returned 400 lost mobile phones worth nearly ₹60 lakh to their rightful owners within three months, Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu said on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference at the District Police Office, the SP said the recovery was made using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a national platform that helps trace and block lost or stolen mobile devices.

He urged the public to immediately register complaints on the CEIR portal whenever they lose their mobile phones to enable police to trace and recover them quickly.

The SP said mobile phones have become indispensable for communication, banking, education, employment and business, making their loss a major inconvenience and a potential risk to personal and financial data.

To improve recovery, Krishna police have constituted a special team under the Crime Control System (CCS) in coordination with IT Core personnel. The team analyses IMEI details through the CEIR portal, tracks lost or stolen devices across different locations and recovers them for return to their owners.

According to the SP, Machilipatnam CCS recovered 100 mobile phones, Penamaluru CCS traced 63, while Gudivada CCS recovered 237 during the three-month drive.

The recovered handsets were handed over to their owners by the SP at the programme.
