Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecast that diverse weather conditions are set to continue across AP over the next two days.
APSDMA managing director Prakhar Jain said on Wednesday that while certain regions may experience intense heat, others could see rain accompanied by lightning.
On Thursday, severe heatwave conditions are expected to affect 46 mandals, 11 of them in Srikakulam, 19 in Vizianagaram, 14 in Manyam, 1 in Alluri Sitarama Raju, and 1 in Polavaram. General heatwave conditions are likely in 79 mandals.
By Friday, it is predicted that the heatwave conditions will intensify, with severe heatwaves predicted in 85 mandals and general heatwaves in 67.
Temperatures ranging between 43°C and 45°C are likely in parts of Eluru, Polavaram, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, and Nellore districts. Temperatures between 40°C and 42°C are expected in areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Konaseema, Kakinada, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, and Markapuram.
Wednesday’s maximum temperatures underscored the severity of the heat. Their recordings are 44.5°C in Nandanamarella (Markapuram district), 44°C in Pittalavanipalem (Bapatla) and Gudur (Nellore), 43.4°C in Pedaparupudi (Krishna) and Amaravati (Palnadu), 43.3°C in Tanuku (West Godavari), 43.2°C in Kanchikacherla (NTR), 43°C in Rayapudi (Guntur), 42.7°C in Chimakurthi (Prakasam), 42.4°C in Bonupalle (Tirupati), 42.3°C in Rajam (Vizianagaram), and 42°C in Kalaparru (Eluru).
Officials said a trough extending from Vidarbha and Telangana across Rayalaseema to Tamil Nadu is influencing the weather. Under its impact, light to moderate rains accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places on Thursday in Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, West Godavari, and Eluru districts. Other districts may also see scattered showers with lightning.
