Dilip Raja Welcomes New Film Development Policy

Monopoly in the industry will be removed and opportunities would be available to more people - Dilip Raja

VIJAYAWADA: The Movie Artists Association-AP founder and film director Dilip Raja has welcomed the decision of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to introduce a comprehensive film development policy for the state.

Raja welcomed the decision to give industry status to cinema.

He said, “It’s heartening that cinematography minister Kandula Durgesh has announced that there will be no cinema bandh by exhibitors over the demand for payment of a percentage of their earnings from June 1. The government has ordered an inquiry through the home secretary into the action of six celebrities who took leases of cinema theaters without the involvement of the original owners. The film screenings will go on as usual.

Raja said the obstacles for the release of Harihara Veera Mallu film of Pawan Kalyan have been removed with the cancellation of the bandh.

The director thanked the deputy CM for his offer to hold direct talks with film associations. He urged the government to consider the opinions of film personalities residing in AP in formulating the comprehensive film development policy.

He felt that through the comprehensive film development policy, "monopoly in the industry will be removed and opportunities would be available to more people, which would lead to increased investments, so that the film industry would develop."

Actors Military Prasad and Vemuri Vijaya Bhaskar also spoke.
