DIG Says 100-Day Action Plan Will Eradicate Ganja
Vijayawada:Visakhapatnam Range deputy inspector general of police Gopinath Jatti , outlined a comprehensive 100-day action plan to eradicate ganja in Andhra Pradesh. During an online review meeting with Superintendents of Police from five districts, Jatti discussed enhancing operations and inter-district coordination to combat ganja trafficking.
The AP police have implemented several strategies, including E-Pahara NDPS Beats, an Anti-Narcotics Task Force, network disruption, and mapping ganja/drug hotspots. Other measures include special anti-drug squads, intensive raids, community-based drug awareness programmes, and improved border check posts.
Recent successes include the seizure of 160 kilograms of ganja worth `8 lakh on August 20, 350 kilograms valued at `17.5 lakh on August 23, and 912 kilograms worth `45.6 lakh on August 25. On August 26, 450 kilograms of ganja valued at `22.5 lakh were seized. Efforts to apprehend traffickers are ongoing, with connections suspected in Madhya Pradesh.
