Dial 112 Alert Helps Police Rescue Woman From Inside Well

The SP appealed to people not to take any extreme steps during difficult situations

TIRUPATI: An emergency Dial 112 call enabled Tirupati district police to quickly respond and rescue a woman who attempted suicide by jumped into a well near Srinivasa Mangapuram on Tuesday morning.

According to police, the district police command and control centre received a Dial 112 emergency call at around 7 a.m. that a woman had jumped into a well. The centre immediately passed on the information to Chandragiri Police Station.

On instructions of Chandragiri in-charge inspector T.V. Satyanarayana and under supervision of sub-inspector E. Arunachalam, head constable K. Chalapathi rushed to the spot. Chalapathi saw the woman struggling in the well. He jumped into the well and rescued her.

Police shifted the woman to a nearby hospital after first aid.

Officials said the timely response of the command and control centre and Chandragiri police has helped save the woman’s life. Inquiry revealed that the woman had earlier gone through a divorce. She had been reportedly under stress due to personal and family problems.

Tirupati superintendent of police L. Subba Rayudu appreciated head constable Chalapathi for his courage and commitment to duty.

The SP appealed to people not to take any extreme steps during difficult situations. They must instead seek help from family members, friends, or the authorities concerned. He advised the public to call Dial 112 immediately during any emergency.
