ONGOLE: The Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation has opened a special sales counter for Dharani brand fortified fine rice at the super bazaar opposite Prakasam Bhavan (collectorate) in Ongole.
District supply officer S. Padmasri inaugurated the counter on Saturday with the approval of joint collector Kalpana Kumari. She said the initiative aimed to make quality rice available to common and middle-class families at affordable prices amid rising market rates.
The BPT variety is being sold at Rs 49 per kg and the KNM variety at Rs 50 per kg. The fortified rice is enriched with iron, folic acid and Vitamin B12 to address nutritional deficiencies, including anaemia.
Padmasri urged people in Ongole and surrounding areas to use the facility.
