DGP Felicitates AP Police Medal Winners at National Games

The Andhra Pradesh Police Taekwondo team won gold in the Keumgang (Under-60) category

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Tuesday felicitated police personnel who won medals at the 11th All India Police Games-2026 and said their performance reflected the department’s commitment to sporting excellence.

At a function held at the Police Headquarters in Mangalagiri, the DGP congratulated the athletes for securing 11 medals five gold, three silver and three bronze at the championship organised by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in Hyderabad from July 23 to 30.

Gupta said the sportspersons had brought laurels to the Andhra Pradesh Police and enhanced the department's reputation at the national level. He urged them to maintain the same spirit in future national and international competitions and presented commendation certificates to the medal winners.

A major highlight was the selection of Taekwondo Team Poomsae gold medallists B.S.N. Murthy, Ch. Venkatesh and B. Srinivasa Rao to represent the Indian Police team at the World Police & Fire Games-2027 to be held in Perth, Australia. The DGP congratulated the trio and expressed confidence that they would bring further honours to the country and the state.

The Andhra Pradesh Police Taekwondo team won gold in the Keumgang (Under-60) category. The department also secured two gold, three silver and two bronze medals in Pencak Silat, while V. Narendra won a bronze medal in the Wushu (Sanda 100 kg) event.

Inspector General of Police (Sports) K.V. Mohan Rao, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Welfare and Sports) K.K.N. Anburajan, coaches, sportspersons and senior police officers attended the felicitation programme.
