Nellore: A wave of devotion swept across Buchireddypalem, 16 km from Nellore city, as thousands took part in the chariot festival at the historic Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple on Friday. The event, a key ritual of the annual Brahmotsavams, unfolded with spiritual splendour at the 250-year-old shrine.

Undeterred by the sweltering summer sun, devotees pulled the beautifully adorned chariot amid chanting of “Jai Sri Ram,”.

The town resonated with spiritual energy as locals extended hospitality by offering buttermilk, drinking water and food to devotees from makeshift distribution points.

The majestic temple, known for its towering Raja Gopuram that reaches nearly 100 feet high, bears architectural resemblance to ancient Tamil shrines.

Dodla Rami Reddy, a staunch devotee of Lord Rama, not only built this grand temple but also contributed generously to the construction and upkeep of several other shrines in the region. His scions continue to oversee the management and development of the shrine.
