Devotees Throng Goddess Temples For Varalakshmi Vratam In East Godavari

Special poojas were performed both at homes and in Goddess temples, which were adorned with elaborate decorations to attract devotees.

Kakinada:Women devotees celebrated the Varalakshmi Vratam festival with great devotion and fervour on Friday, coinciding with the auspicious Shravana Shukravaram (Friday of the holy Shravana month).

Special poojas were performed both at homes and in Goddess temples, which were adorned with elaborate decorations to attract devotees.

In many temples, women performed Kumkum Poojas. At the Goddess Musalamma Temple in Kadiyapulanka village of Kadiyam mandal, East Godavari district, decorations featured currency notes worth ₹30 lakh. The renowned Goddess Bala Tripura Sundari Temple in Kakinada was draped in a “golden sari”.

Temples were packed with devotees, particularly women dressed in new clothes, who gathered in large numbers to offer prayers. Notable shrines such as the Manikyamba Temple at Draksharama, Puruhutika Temple at Pithapuram (both among the Ashtadasa Peethas), Raja Rajeswari Temple at Samalkot, Mavullamma Temple at Bhimavaram, Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Temple at Penugonda, Satyavathi Devi Temple at Annavaram, and several Lakshmi Devi temples in Gandhinagar, Venkata Nagar, Jagannaikpur, Amalapuram, Eluru, Antarvedi, and Vadapalli were adorned in diverse thematic styles.
