Durga temple executive officer Seena Naik said that all protocols for sanctum sanctorum and VIP darshan were suspended to give precedence to ordinary devotees

VIJAYAWADA: A large number of devotees gathered at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam (Durga temple) located atop Indrakeeladri to seek darshan of Goddess Durga on the last Sunday of the Ashadha Masam at Vijayawada. The female devotees offered traditional Bonalu to Durga Devi.

Durga temple executive officer Seena Naik said that all protocols for sanctum sanctorum and VIP darshan were suspended to give precedence to ordinary devotees, and special access via lift was provided for senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, mothers with infants, and those who are unable to walk, ensuring an inclusive spiritual experience.

Naik stated that by 3 pm, a total of 62,426 devotees had received darshan. He further stated that the temple is providing free services despite the significant footfall and potential revenue, but the cooperation of devotees in maintaining sanitation is crucial, he stressed.
