Deputy CM’s Office Flags Misinformation On Road Works, Cites Quality Checks

The Deputy CM’s office alleged that certain vested interests, along with sections of social media and media platforms

VIJAYAWADA: The office of Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Saturday alleged that “anti-development elements” were spreading misinformation on ongoing road construction works in the state.

In a statement, officials said the NDA coalition government is maintaining strict quality standards in road projects taken up under the panchayat raj and rural development department. It said regular inspections and social audits are being conducted to ensure transparency and proper utilisation of public funds, adding that the state has secured the top position nationally in social audit performance.

Responding to recent viral videos, the statement clarified that portions of roads shown as damaged were actually test cuts made to assess the quality of the base layer. It said further construction is taken up only after confirming the quality of the initial layer, to ensure durability.

The Deputy CM’s office alleged that certain vested interests, along with sections of social media and media platforms, were misrepresenting routine quality checks to mislead the public.
