Death Toll in Vetlapalem Cracker Blast Rises to 23
He died while undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital (GGH) at Kakinada.
Kakinada:The death toll following the blast at the firecracker unit at Vetlapalem in Kakinada district on February 28 has risen to 23 on Tuesday with the death of Vemagiri Lovaraju (35) of Samalkot. He died while undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital (GGH) at Kakinada.
20 persons had died on the day of the blast. At present, six persons injured in the blast are continuing to undergo treatment at the GGH in Kakinada. Another person is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kakinada while another individual is recuperating at the Primary Health Centre in Samalkot.
In the wake of the blast, Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi founder Manda Krishna Madiga called on district collector S. Shan Mohan on Tuesday. He sought the collector’s help in providing better medical treatment to the injured persons, apart from government employment to the kin of those deceased.
MRPS leaders M. China Subba Rao, K. Uday Kumar, Dokuburra Bhadram, S. Ben Johnson, A. Raju, and P. Naveen were among those present.
