Davos: UAE Agrees to Establish Food Cluster in AP
The UAE minister also assured to enable 40 companies to set up shop in the southern state
Vijayawada: The United Arab Emirates would extend support to Andhra Pradesh in the food processing sector. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, attending the World Economic Forum meeting at Davos, met the UAE’s economy and tourism minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri on Tuesday. The two discussed ways to strengthen economic partnership. The UAE agreed to work with AP in the food processing sector and the Dubai flood cluster. The premier gulf nation also expressed its desire to set up around 40 firms in AP.
Naidu explained to the UAE minister the vast opportunities for investments in AP in sectors like food safety, logistics, port based industries, renewable energy, urban development, tourism and basic amenities.
A discussion also was held on proposals, wherein the UAE-based Sharaf Group would set up a multi-modal logistics park in AP, while a modern construction unit would be set up in Amaravati with the light gauge steel framing technology.
DP World, a leading global logistics company based in Dubai, would develop port terminals, logistics and basic amenities while Abu Dhabi National Oil Company would set up a floating storage and regasification unit and the LuLu Group would start a mega shopping mall in Visakhapatnam.
The chief minister expressed his hope that AP’s strategic partnership with the UAE would help majorly in the setting up of industries, generation of employment opportunities and exports in an expeditious manner. The UAE minister promised support to expand the partnership of the UAE government and several prominent firms with AP in future.
Union civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu, education minister Nara Lokesh and industries minister T.G. Bharath were present.
