Davos Meet: CM Projects AP As Global Green Revolution Hub

“Natural farming is no longer just a choice; it is a necessity to heal the earth. In AP, we have mobilized 18 lakh farmers, who are prepared to implement these practices across 20 lakh acres”: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu

VIJAYAWADA: Asserting that Andhra Pradesh is poised to become the world’s largest laboratory for nature-based agriculture, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday showcased the state’s natural farming model as a potent force against the escalating climate crisis.

Addressing a round table on natural farming and alternative food crop production, on day 3 of the World Economic Forum annual meet in Davos, Naidu invited global investors and environmentalists to view AP as a pioneer in sustainable food production systems.

He emphasized that the state’s “decisive shift toward organic practices is a triple-win strategy: improving public health, reversing environmental degradation, and eliminating rural poverty.”

“Natural farming is no longer just a choice; it is a necessity to heal the earth. In AP, we have mobilized 18 lakh farmers, who are prepared to implement these practices across 20 lakh acres,” the CM stated.

He highlighted that, unlike capital-intensive chemical farming, this model slashed investment costs significantly, ensuring higher net income for the tiller from the very first harvest.

Naidu maintained that financially strengthening the farmer was the only sustainable way to bolster the rural economy. He explained that natural farming enhanced carbon sequestration—the process of capturing atmospheric carbon in the soil—making it a vital tool for climate mitigation. “By reducing water consumption and enhancing biodiversity, we ensure that soil fertility remains intact for future generations,” he stated.

With an eye on the burgeoning international demand for "clean" food, Naidu said his state was fast-tracking marketing infrastructure and international certification processes. The government, he said, is also deploying cutting-edge technology to ensure farmers receive remunerative prices.

“We are proving that eco-friendly farming is not just a social service but a massive global business opportunity. We want AP’s produce to be the first choice in the global market,” he said.

The CM also urged global businesses to look beyond short-term profits and adopt "environment-first" industrial methods, calling for financial incentives to support farmers during this critical transition.
