Dam Safety Panel Inspects Somasila, to Assess Kandaleru Next
Somasila officials said the committee would make a detailed assessment of the dam’s structural stability, safety measures and overall condition.
Nellore: A three-member committee of dam safety experts inspected the Somasila Reservoir on Saturday to assess its structural condition and safety measures. The panel will subsequently inspect the Kandaleru Reservoir on August 31 and September 1.
The committee is headed by retired chief engineer M. Gopal Reddy and comprises experts Venkateswarlu and Srikanth. The team inspected the earth dam, crest gates and retaining wall at Somasila.
Somasila officials said the committee would make a detailed assessment of the dam’s structural stability, safety measures and overall condition.
Following the inspections, the committee will prepare a report with its findings and recommendations and submit it to the Central and State governments.
The panel will visit Kandaleru Reservoir for a similar safety assessment on August 31 and September 1.
