KADAPA: Eight unidentified persons attacked a Dalit youth at Vontimitta in Kadapa district.
The victim, identified as Eeri Aswardhan, a resident of Harijanawada in Ontimitta, was reportedly waylaid near a hotel in the locality and brutally assaulted by the group.
According to the victim, the assailants gagged him by stuffing cloth into his mouth, pinned him down, and repeatedly punched him in the face, leaving him severely injured.
He also sustained serious injuries to his waist after being beaten with a cricket bat.
The victim stated that he had no connection to a recent clash that took place during the Brahmotsavam festivities in Ontimitta, but was still targeted by the attackers. “I was not involved in any dispute, yet they attacked me without provocation,” he said.
Family members and local residents demanded strict action against the accused, urging the police to register a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. However, there was no confirmation on whether a case had been registered or any arrests had been made.
