He was speaking after receiving public grievances at the Sunayana Auditorium in the Kurnool collectorate

Kurnool: State SC Commission chairman K.S. Jawahar on Thursday said that the government was firmly committed to the welfare of Dalits and taking all necessary steps to ensure effective implementation of welfare measures.
He was speaking after receiving public grievances at the Sunayana Auditorium in the Kurnool collectorate. A large number of people turned up to present their issues before the Commission.
Jawahar said that officials were being directed to ensure that all schemes and initiatives meant for Dalit welfare are implemented properly at the ground level. He noted that a majority of the complaints received were related to land disputes.
He also expressed concern over the rising number of atrocity cases in Kurnool and Nandyal districts, stating that appropriate measures are being taken to address them. At present, over 113 cases are pending in the districts, he said, adding that a review meeting will be convened to expedite their disposal at the earliest.
