Andhra Braces for Heavy Rain, Strong Winds
State sets up control rooms, rehabilitation centres and deploys NDRF teams across districts

Amaravati: The impact of Cyclone Montha is being felt across Andhra Pradesh, with coastal districts already witnessing moderate to heavy rains and light showers reported in parts of Rayalaseema. The state government said the cyclone is likely to affect 233 mandals, 1,419 villages, and 44 municipalities across the state.
To tackle the situation, authorities have set up 2,194 rehabilitation centres in the affected areas. Special arrangements have also been made for the care of 3,465 pregnant women and new mothers, officials said.
The government has established control rooms in 54 revenue divisions across 19 districts to monitor the situation. To ensure uninterrupted communication, 16 satellite phones and 35 DMR sets have been installed. In addition, 11 NDRF and 12 SDRF teams have been deployed to handle any emergencies arising from the cyclone’s impact.
