Permitted the Andhra Pradesh Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) to take former Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Naga Raju into custody for seven days for interrogation in connection with the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna.
Vijayawada: The Supreme Court on Monday permitted the Andhra Pradesh Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) to take former Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Naga Raju into custody for seven days for interrogation in connection with the custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna.
The apex court heard the SIT's plea seeking police custody of the accused to conduct a detailed investigation into the case. The court clarified that all the conditions imposed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court would remain in force, except for one or two conditions that were modified.
Following the order, the SIT is likely to take Naga Raju into custody from the Central Prison in Rajamahendravaram on Tuesday and bring him to Vijayawada for questioning to gather more details regarding the alleged custodial death and the subsequent disappearance of the victim's body.
