Culpable Homicide Section Added In Student Death Case
Police added Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and Section 105 of BNS, relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, to the FIR.

VISAKHAPATNAM: One Town police on Monday added stringent sections to the case relating to the death of student Pranay Teja, who collapsed in his classroom and died after allegedly being slapped by his teacher on April 21.
Police added Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and Section 105 of BNS, relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, to the FIR. A case had initially been registered under Section 194 of BNSS following the incident.
Pranay Teja was allegedly slapped by his teacher for not completing his homework at Little Garden English Medium School in the Town Kotha Road locality under One Town police station limits. He later collapsed in the classroom and died.
Police said the teacher could be arrested following the addition of the new sections.
Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act deals with assault, abuse or wilful neglect of a child by a person having charge of or control over the child, while Section 105 of the BNS relates to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Meanwhile, a three-member committee formed by the School Education Department, comprising the regional joint director, district educational officer and revenue divisional officer, is expected to submit its report within a day or two.
The school remained closed on Monday and is likely to remain closed on Tuesday after the management announced a two-day holiday following the incident.
