Crime Rate Declines in Prakasam, Conviction Rate Improves

Tech-driven policing cuts crime in Prakasam district

Nellore: Prakasam district recorded a significant decline in crime in 2025, backed by improved case disposal, higher conviction rates and extensive use of technology, underscoring the district police’s shift towards strategic and people-centric policing, according to the Annual Crime Report–2025 released on Monday.

Unveiling the report at a media conference at the District Police Office in Ongole, superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju said the reduction in crime figures and improved convictions reflected the effectiveness of modern policing methods, community participation and strict monitoring of sensitive cases.

He said special focus on crimes against women, property offences and missing persons had yielded positive results, while technological interventions and systematic supervision helped strengthen enforcement.

“The coordinated efforts of our officers, the effective use of technology and strong public cooperation have contributed to safer communities across the district,” the SP said. “Our goal remains a crime-free society and enhanced public safety.”

He added that the police department would further strengthen its services in 2026, with renewed focus on emerging crime trends, advanced surveillance systems, road safety and citizen-friendly policing.

Senior officers, including DSP Ongole R. Srinivasa Rao, SB Inspector Srinivasa Rao, DCRB Inspector Devaprabhakar, IT Core Inspector Venkateswarlu, and other CI and RI teams, were present at the event.
