Cricket Betting Racket Busted

Visakhapatnam: Vizag police arrested two persons for allegedly promoting illegal online cricket betting activities through social media and luring the youth with promises of easy money through betting operations. The arrested were identified as Yalamanchali Jagannadha Rao (33) and Kona Rambabu (38), both residents of Gajuwaka locality in Vizag city.
The police said Jagannadha Rao and Rambabu promoted the online gaming apps such as Dream Play 1, Lotus, Ganga 777, and Mr Exchange. Some of the youngsters came across the advertisements promoting the betting operations and predictions related to cricket matches on social media platforms.
Believing them on social media, some youngsters, including employees with private firms and students, expected good returns and participated in cricket betting on those sites, and they lost amounts. The victims later realised that they had been cheated and lodged a complaint with the cybercrimes police station in Vizag seeking action against the crooks for promoting illegal activities.
