VIJAYAWADA: In a move to enhance transparency, the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has decided to place in the public domain complete details of 4,929 pensions that were either cancelled or kept on hold for landless poor families in the Amaravati capital region, along with the reasons for each decision.
According to an official release issued by the APCRDA Commissioner’s office on Saturday, the cancellations and withholdings occurred between 2015 and 2025 following scrutiny under government-prescribed guidelines. Of the total, pensions of 4,370 beneficiaries were cancelled after they were found ineligible, while payments to 559 beneficiaries were kept on hold.
Under the scheme, eligible landless poor families in the capital region receive a monthly pension of Rs 5,000. The authority noted that several beneficiaries have been approaching CRDA offices seeking restoration of their pensions.
The matter was reviewed by a three-member committee comprising Union minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, municipal administration and urban development minister Dr Ponguru Narayana, and Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar. The committee decided to give eligible beneficiaries an opportunity to seek restoration after proper verification.
To facilitate grievance redressal, APCRDA has uploaded the full list of 4,929 beneficiaries on its official website, clearly stating the grounds for cancellation or withholding. Affected pensioners have been advised to check their details online and submit representations with supporting documents at their nearest CRDA unit offices during working hours or at Gram Sabha meetings.
