CPI Urges India to Lead Iran Peace Push, Warns of Fuel Price Impact

Addressing a press conference in Guntur, he called for immediate diplomatic engagement with Washington and Tel Aviv to halt what he described as regime-change attempts and civilian-targeted strikes.

Vijayawada:CPI National Control Commission chairman K. Narayana on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to move beyond neutrality and lead global efforts to defuse tensions over Iran, warning that continued US–Israel military action could endanger democracy and trigger a wider conflict.

Addressing a press conference in Guntur, he called for immediate diplomatic engagement with Washington and Tel Aviv to halt what he described as regime-change attempts and civilian-targeted strikes. He cautioned that escalating alignments could snowball into a third world war. Narayana pressed for direct talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, stating that those who initiated the conflict must take responsibility for ending it.

He warned that rising tensions could push up petrol and diesel prices and lead to inflation in essential commodities. He also sought swift evacuation of Indians stranded in Gulf nations and welcomed countries that refrained from participating in the attacks.

On domestic issues, Narayana said extremism cannot be eliminated without addressing poverty, countering calls for a “Naxal-Free India”. He criticised corporate control over mineral resources and objected to the appointment of contractors and politicians to religious bodies.

Urging IAS and IPS officers to act strictly within legal limits, he alleged governance failures behind recent incidents in Kakinada and Rajahmundry. He also demanded mediation and attachment of assets to compensate 32 lakh AgriGold victims.
