Covid-19 Awareness Films to Return to Cinema Theatres

Vijayawada: Film director and MAA-AP founder D. Dilip Raja on Wednesday announced plans to screen Covid-19 awareness films in cinema theatres across Andhra Pradesh to promote precautionary measures amid the recent detection of fresh coronavirus cases.
Addressing a press conference, Raja said the initiative would be implemented with technical support from Qube. He noted that with 26 Covid-19 cases reported in the state so far, it was important to remind the public that preventive measures remained the most effective way to contain the spread of the virus.
He said the proposed awareness films were intended to encourage people to remain cautious without creating panic, drawing on lessons learnt during previous waves of the pandemic. He urged the public to follow government guidelines and medical advice.
Raja said the films would be screened in theatres only after obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He added that the necessary application, along with the prescribed fee, would be submitted before their theatrical release.
Recalling an earlier initiative, Raja said the Andhra Pradesh government had screened his Covid-19 awareness films in theatres through the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation during the tenure of former Guntur district collector Samuel Anand.
