Corruption, lack of speed in welfare schemes not acceptable: Naidu

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that he would not tolerate any slackness and corruption in implementation of several welfare schemes and programmes.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that he would not tolerate any slackness and corruption in implementation of several welfare schemes and programmes.

He directed the officials to improve the delivery mechanism if they came across complaints from the beneficiaries.
The chief minister reviewed the feedback being received from the people through IVRS and QR code scanning and other survey reports on distribution of social security pension, Anna Canteens, distribution of fertilizers, healthcare services in government hospitals, travel in RTC buses etc -- at the AP Secretariat here on Monday.
The CM said some people were complaining about implementation of government schemes. He directed officials to take up inquiry where there were lapses, and improve the delivery mechanism.
He said that in case any person complained that he or she was not getting the social security pension at the doorstep or if there were problems in the delivery of gas refills under the Deepam scheme, or of involvement of corruption or if there is dissatisfaction on healthcare services at the government hospitals, officials must hold discussions and rectify them.
The CM suggested to the officials to reach out to the beneficiaries facing such problems, identify the reasons and sort those out. Every call of complaint must be addressed.
Naidu said he would not tolerate corruption and any negligence on the part of officials and suggested that officials take the gas agencies to task in case of any trouble in the delivery of gas refills to the beneficiaries under the scheme.
While reviewing the supply of fertilizers in the state, he called for reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and underscored the need to go for new cultivation practices to raise crops. “Bring about awareness among the farmers on the benefits of use of technology in the farming and also on the ill-effects of using high doses of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the cultivation of crops,” he asked officials.
Naidu noted that excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in Punjab resulted in a rise in the number of people suffering from cancer in the state. He called for spraying of pesticides in the form of liquor by using drones, so that it would help reduce use of fertilizers and pesticides.
On distribution of society security pensions to the beneficiaries, the CM suggested to the officers to distribute it from 7am to 6pm and made it clear that there was no need to do so at 5am or 6 am.
However, he wanted the distribution of pension to be done properly with more emphasis on delivering it at the doorsteps of the beneficiaries. He asked the officials to find out the reasons in case the pension was delivered in the field of a farmer or in the hospital. “But, as long as there is no complaint from the people in this regard, give some relaxation of rule,” he said.
He also advised the officers involved in the distribution of pensions to give respect to the beneficiaries.
