Cordon & Search Op Uncovers 40 Unauthorised Shops In Tirumala

TIRUPATI: Security measures in Tirumala have been intensified on Sunday as the district police conducted a joint cordon and search operation aimed at enhancing surveillance and ensuring the safety of devotees visiting the temple town. During the operation held under the direction of SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, several unauthorised shops were found operating without valid licenses.

Out of 148 inspected stalls and establishments, 40 were identified as functioning without the necessary approvals during the collaborative effort involving vigilance and security from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), staff from the forest department, a bomb disposal unit, fire services, and revenue officials.

Additional SP of Tirumala I. Rama Krishna said the operation was focused on maintaining law and order in the temple surroundings, especially with the heavy influx of devotees. “We have identified 40 unauthorised shops. The details have been shared with TTD revenue and forest officials for necessary action”, he said.

The ASP confirmed that no banned or suspicious materials were found during the checks. Shopkeepers were advised to cooperate with security personnel and to report any sale of prohibited goods. The traders were also told to install CCTV cameras on their premises as a mandatory safety measure.

The operation involved 25 police personnel, 13 TTD vigilance staff, 15 from TTD and government forest departments, five members of the bomb disposal team, two fire service officials, and one revenue official. Circle Inspector R. Ramudu and officers from various departments took part in the exercise.
