Coordination Meet to Discuss Release of Puducherry Boats

In a press release on Thursday, K. Santhi, joint director of the fisheries department in Nellore, has appealed to all coastal leaders and fishermen to attend the meeting without fail, as key decisions on the release of the boats are expected.

Nellore: A crucial coordination meeting has been scheduled for December 20 to persuade fishermen from Krishnapuram and Chennaiyapalem to release the fishing boats seized in Puducherry earlier this year. In July and September, fishermen from Karaikal in Puducherry inadvertently entered the Andhra Pradesh fishing zone; four fishing boats were subsequently detained by fishermen from Krishnapuram and Chennaiyapalem. The seized boats have since been anchored at Juvvaladinne Jetty in Nellore district.

Following consultations with local fishermen, arrangements are underway to release and hand over the detained boats. In this regard, officials from the Puducherry administration are scheduled to visit Nellore district on December 20 to facilitate the return of the boats. The meeting will focus on discussions with fishermen regarding the handover of the four boats currently stationed at Juvvaladinne Jetty. In a press release on Thursday, K.
