Constables Are Backbone Of Police System, Says Anitha
AP Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha addressed 149 newly trained police constables at their passing-out parade in Mangalagiri.
Discipline, honesty and humanity are the cornerstones of police duty, Andhra Pradesh home minister Vangalapudi Anitha said on Tuesday while addressing the passing-out parade of the 2025-26 batch of Stipendiary Cadet Trainee Police Constables at the APSP 6th Battalion BTC Parade Grounds in Mangalagiri.
AP DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and other officials attended the programme. A total of 149 cadets completed their training and participated in the parade. Anitha, who attended as chief guest, presented awards to cadets who excelled during the training.
Anitha asked the recruits to remember the sacrifices of their parents and serve the people with integrity. She said the police uniform should inspire confidence among citizens rather than fear.
She announced that the stipend for trainee constables had been increased from `4,500 to `12,000. Across 21 training centres in the state, 5,800 constables had completed training, including 2,330 APSP personnel. Nearly 1,000 of the new recruits are women.
Anitha said constables were the backbone of the police system and were expected to perform efficiently during disasters, law and order duties and emergencies. She said special training had been imparted to handle cybercrime and adapt to changing criminal trends.
She urged constables to listen patiently to victims at police stations and ensure swift justice, saying the police should be seen as a source of assurance rather than intimidation.
Anitha directed the recruits to discharge their duties in accordance with the Constitution, without bias and with honesty and a spirit of service. She called upon them to contribute to the state’s Vision 2047 development plan.
She urged the recruits to maintain discipline and serve until retirement, saying their conduct would bring pride to the police department and help build public trust.
