Congress Leaders Move To Challenge Google Data Centre Project in SC
The Congress leaders called for a comprehensive review of the environmental clearances, water usage and the project's impact on local communities. They said development should not come at the cost of natural resources or future generations and that the legal challenge would continue in the public interest.

Vishakhapatnam: APCC vice-president Vegi Venkatesh, Visakhapatnam Congress president Hasini Varma and senior advocate Krishna reached Delhi on Monday to initiate legal proceedings in the Supreme Court against the proposed Google data centre in Visakhapatnam.
The Congress leaders are preparing to file a petition challenging the approvals granted by the NDA coalition government for the project. They intend to seek a stay on construction and, if required, its removal.
They raised concerns over the project’s potential impact on the environment, groundwater resources and local climate. The party argued that data centre operations could place heavy demand on water resources and affect the ecological balance through heat generated by servers and cooling systems.
