Vijayawada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed Chief Secretaries of various state governments to ensure the timely and expeditious completion of national and inter-state projects. He held a video conference with Chief Secretaries from Delhi on Wednesday to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana grievance redressal system, the Tumkur–Rayadurga via Kalyanadurga new railway line project, and the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasised the need for swift resolution of grievances related to the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. He also urged the successful implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana and directed the Railway Department to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka governments to expedite the completion of the Tumkur railway line project.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, who participated virtually in the meeting, informed the Prime Minister that the Tumkur–Rayadurga via Kalyanadurga new line (206 km) was sanctioned in 2009 with an initial project cost of ₹970.34 crore and a completion target of 2015. Due to various delays, the revised project cost has escalated to ₹2,495.86 crore, with the new target completion year set for 2027.

Vijayanand stated that out of the total 93 km of the railway line passing through Andhra Pradesh, 75 km of work has already commenced, and construction on the remaining 18 km is currently in progress. He further confirmed that no land acquisition issues remain pending in Andhra Pradesh.
