Collector Calls For Grand, Tourist-Friendly Flamingo Festival–2026
The festival will be held for two days across seven locations

Nellore: District collector Dr S. Venkateshwar on Wednesday directed officials to organise the Flamingo Festival–2026, scheduled for January 10 and 11, in a grand and people-friendly manner to attract tourists and ensure large public participation.
Chairing a coordination meeting at TVRR Kalyana Mandapam in Sullurpeta, the collector said special festival committees had been constituted for smooth execution. Unlike last year’s three-day event, the festival will be held for two days across seven locations — Sullurpeta, Nelapattu, BV Palem, Atakanithippa, Irukam Island, Sri City and Ubbalamadugu Waterfalls.
He said the main venue would be at the Sullurpeta Government Junior College, where stalls, exhibitions and cultural programmes would be organised. The collector instructed officials to ensure flawless arrangements and stressed the need for coordination among all departments, with support from public representatives and the media.
To attract tourists at the state and national levels, he called for extensive publicity through social media. Adventure activities such as aero sports and hot air ballooning are being planned at BV Palem, while boating facilities with mandatory life jackets will be arranged at Irukam Island. He also directed that approach roads and viewpoints at tourist locations, including Atakanithippa, be completed well in advance.
Sullurpeta MLA Nelavala Vijayashree said the festival would be celebrated in a festive atmosphere and urged officials to strengthen arrangements, particularly at Nelapattu and BV Palem.
Officials from various departments, public representatives and others attended the meeting.
