Cockfight Grounds Destroyed
Mandal level committees have been formed to identify cockfight grounds and cockfights

Kakinada: The police of Kirlampudi in Kakinada district, Nallajerla in East Godavari district and some of the areas in Konaseema district have destroyed cockfight grounds with tractors and JCBs.
In a stern warning, the police asked cockfight organisers not to engage in such gambling games and stringent action would be taken against law-violators. “Cruelty to animals is a crime," police stressed.
The Kakinada district revenue officer Venkata Rao and ASP Manish Patil told the media on Monday that cockfights, Gundata, playing of cards and other gambling games should not be conducted. He said the high court has also given a strict directive not to conduct such gambling games.
They said mandal level committees have been formed to identify cockfight grounds and cockfights. If any such gambling sports are found, the committees would seize it and take to task the land owners, organisers and participants.
