Coalition Government Committed to Ambedkar’s Ideals: Satya Kumar

Satya Kumar maintained that the honour of conferring Bharat Ratna on Ambedkar in 1990 goes to the BJP-supported government.

Vijayawada: Medical and Health minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday said the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is committed to welfare and development in line with the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Participating in Ambedkar’s 135th birth anniversary celebrations organised by the BJP SC Morcha in Vijayawada, the minister sought to point out that Ambedkar had suffered political injustice during his lifetime, with Congress leaders defeated him in party’s internal elections and then failing to confer the Bharat Ratna on him.

Satya Kumar maintained that the honour of conferring Bharat Ratna on Ambedkar in 1990 goes to the BJP-supported government.

On the day, the BJP SC Morcha took out a massive procession titled “Dalitula Atma Gourava Gunde Chappudu” from Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium to the Ambedkar Statue on M.G. Road. Thousands of dappu artistes participated in the procession and presented colourful cultural performances.

BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav said AP government would work towards providing pensions to dappu artistes above 40 years, along with free bus travel, identity cards and housing support. He promised efforts to fill traditional village announcement posts with dappu artists and create opportunities for them in temple services.

SC Morcha state president Panthala Suresh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the coalition leadership are striving hard to realise Ambedkar’s aspirations.
