AP CM Visits Fisherman's Home for Lunch

The CM also took a keen interest in learning about the different varieties of locally available fish and the traditional coastal lifestyle of the community.

Nellore: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu shared a warm and memorable afternoon with a fisherman’s family in Thummalapenta village of Kavali mandal on Tuesday, turning an official visit into a touching display of his connection with the coastal community.

During his tour of Kavali in SPSR Nellore district, the Chief Minister participated in the “Matsyakarula Sevalo” programme and later visited the local fish market, where he interacted with fishermen and women vendors.

Moving through the bustling market, Naidu personally purchased fresh fish from local sellers, drawing excitement and cheers from traders and residents.

Fisherman Tanangari Babu and his son Giri welcomed the Chief Minister to the market. Naidu spoke at length with fishermen about their livelihoods, fishing conditions and fish sales.

During the interaction, Tanangari Babu explained how the government’s “Matsyakarula Sevalo” scheme and its annual financial assistance of Rs.20,000 had become a major support system for fishing families.

The CM also took keen interest in learning about the different varieties of locally available fish and the traditional coastal lifestyle of the community.

Naidu accepted an invitation from Tanangari Babu and visited the fisherman’s modest home in Thummalapenta. Carrying the fish he had bought from the market, the CM stepped into the family kitchen, where Babu’s wife Venkamma prepared a traditional fish curry.

As the curry simmered on the stove, Naidu closely observed the cooking process, chatted casually with the family, and even playfully stirred the pot for a few moments. He also interacted with Venkamma’s daughter, who had recently given birth to a baby, and enquired about the health and well-being of both mother and child.

In a scene that resonated deeply with locals, the chief minister sat on the floor alongside the fishermen’s family and shared a simple homemade meal with them. Adding a personal touch, Naidu himself served fish curry to the family members before posing with them for a group photograph.

Overwhelmed by the visit, Tanangari Babu’s family thanked the Chief Minister for his visit to their home and Naidu spending time with them like a member of their own family.
