AP CM Naidu Unveils Special Law to Protect BCs
Special law for BCs on the lines of SC/ST Act; 55 BC welfare corporations set up

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced the introduction of a special law to protect the interests of the Backward Classes (BCs).
During his visit to Eluru district on Friday, the CCM highlighted the government's initiatives, including the establishment of 55 corporations specifically for BC welfare and the introduction of tailored plans to uplift these communities.
Naidu claimed that his alliance was ensuring good governance in the state. “The post of chief minister is nothing new to me. The development that I undertook in the combined Andhra Pradesh has created history,” he said.
"I will once again prove that I am the eldest son of your family," Naidu said while addressing the Praja Vedika (People's Platform) at Vadlamanu of Agiripalli mandal of Eluru district marking the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. Jyothirao Phule, he said, “is one among the rarest of the rare personalities” in history.
He said, “Following the footsteps of Phule, former chief minister NT Rama Rao had given top priority to women's education and established a women's university in the state. It was NTR who first highlighted the injustice being done to BCs.”
BCs “are the backbone of the TD,” he said and added that it was TD’s primary responsibility to strongly support the BCs.
Naidu announced that legislation on the lines of SC, ST Atrocities Act would soon be enacted for the safety and security of BCs. A sub-committee has already been formed for the purpose. Based on its report, “a legislation will be enacted."
The CM promised to stand by minister Kolusu Parthasarathy for developing the Nuzvid assembly segment, and called upon the people to have more children as “the population is decreasing.” Also, he said, the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation project would be completed soon after resolving the legal disputes.
Naidu felt social media has become a platform for all criminals. “Stringent action would be taken if anyone resorts to character assassination. Parents must raise their children as responsible citizens.”
